Peer Review

Groups are to view and review each others' production in their respective sharing folders or via a "gallery walk".

The reviews will be done via post stick pads and butcher sheets of each group.

Groups with good reviews will be selected to share about their creation and their learning experiences.

Project Instructions

In your groups you will now be required to create a planning mind map and an animated short clip with the new skills you have learnt.

Groups are to work together using the necessary hardwares, softwares and recommended online tools and resources provided for this task. Do save your files in the sharing folders or thumbdrives.

The time allocated for this production will be 1 hour 30 minutes.

The Stop-Animation Movie and Animated Clip

You will be introduced to the basic hardware tools and software tools required for creating a Stop-Animation Movie. This is followed by a short demonstration of putting together the digital pictures taken or downloaded with Windows Movie Maker to form the Stop-Animation Movie. The completed Stop-Animation Movie will lastly be arranged together with the Podcast to form the animated clip.

Your course facilitator will now demonstrate the basic skills required and you will be given time to explore on how to use this tool .

The Podcast

You will be introduced to the basic hardware and software tools required for creating a Podcast. This is followed by a short demonstration of recording a short voice clip (with Sound Recorder), downloading suitable royalty free song clips and putting together the voice clip and the song clip with Windows Movie Maker. You will also be shown how to publish a Podcast.

Your course facilitator will now demonstrate the basic skills required and you will be given time to explore on how to use this tool .

The Planning Tool

In this first section, you will use Mind Manager software to draw a Mind Map as a planning tool for the project. A Mind Map will allow teams to have an overview of their project and at the same time ensure that all aspects are covered.

Your course facilitator will now demonstrate the basic skills required and you will be given time to explore on how to use this tool .

The Sample

Here is a sample of the animated end-product your teams will be required to produce with your new skills and added creativity.

The Scenario

You are a bunch of newbie animators of an animation production company. Your first task is to work on a project, in groups of 3s or 4s, to produce an animated short clip as part of your On-the -Job-Training (OJT).

To begin you will embark on an hour of introductory training sessions where you will learn how to use various softwares and tools required to create an animation.

Thereafter you will have 1 hour 30 minutes to create a planning mindmap and a short animated clip of your own.

Lastly, there will be a time of viewing and reviewing each others' projects.

Training Objectives

At the end of the training session, you will be able to:

  • use the software, Mind Manager, for project planning,
  • use a sound recorder software, microphone and headphones to create a simple podcast,
  • down load music files from online resources and insert the music into a podcast,
  • edit and publish a podcast with Windows Movie Maker,
  • create a stop animation movie with a digital camera or picture files from the Internet
  • edit a stop animation movie with Windows Movie Maker,
  • create a short animated clip with audio and visual effects using Windows Movie Maker
  • edit an animated clip with Windows Movie Maker.

Folders set up (in thumbdrive or sharing folders):

1. In your sharing folder create a folder named " ICT Training"

2. Create sub-folders with the following names:

MindManager, Podcasting, Stop Animation, Final Products
